Guiding children, youth and families
We help our clients move their story forward with therapy provided for children, adolescents and families in a variety of environments. Here, you'll work with someone who wants the very best for you and your child.
Together, we’ll support your child with their sensory needs and behavioural needs to help them learn to interpret their body cues, respond to their needs and self-regulate their emotions and behaviour. At the same time, we’ll develop strategies for home and school environments that make life easier and more fun!
What is Occupational Therapy?
Some children experience difficulties at school, at home, and in play. They may find regulating their behaviours and emotions challenging, and this in turn affects how they function in different environments. They may be out of touch with their body’s cues which can lead to frustration, challenging behaviour, outbursts and struggles with daily activities and routines.
At Emerge Therapy Services, we provide Occupational Therapy that helps children, youth and families experience joy and success in their daily activities. In our sessions, we model and teach strategies for caregivers to bring home with them such as learning to read their children’s cues and address their needs. Helping you to help your child increases happiness in the home environment. That’s why we work together to reduce outbursts, practice transitions, and learn positive coping skills.
“Our whole family loves Heather. Not only does she have every type of climbing, bouncing, sensory enticing toy imaginable in her space, she also meets our children exactly where they are at individually. Seeing and meeting their differing needs with patience, and the ease that comes with years of practice and a love for the work that she does. Because of her, my children practice mindfulness together at night before bed. It is becoming a beautiful tradition of peace and togetherness before we tuck them in. I’m so grateful to her for the time, expertise and support that she has given to my family!” - SS

“We are so thankful for all the support and help my son and my family have received from Megan. Since the beginning our son connected immediately with her, and she started to help us not only with the therapy also with our son’s school, and all we needed at that time. She helps us to manage and get through stressful situations successfully.” - BS
